How to use the strawberry huller
- Rinse the strawberries just before hulling so they do not get waterlogged. The FDA recommends washing produce under running water rather than soaking it. Read the FDA produce safety tips.
- Press the huller claws into the top of the strawberry around the stem.
- Twist gently and pull — the leaves and core come out together.
- Squeeze the handle to release the top into the bin and move to the next berry.

It also works on cherry tomatoes and removing potato eyes. For cherries and olives, our handheld cherry pitter is the better tool.
Is it safe for kids to use?
Yes. There is no blade, so it is a good first kitchen task for kids with adult supervision.
Should I wash strawberries before or after hulling?
Wash them right before hulling. Washing after hulling lets water into the berry and makes it soggy.
How much fruit does it save compared to a knife?
A knife usually cuts off the shoulders of the berry along with the leaves. The huller only removes the stem and core, so more of the sweet top stays on the fruit.
